Nautical Father’s Day Card

Hello and welcome! Today I wanted to share with you a Nautical Father’s Day card that I created using a number of different Stampin’ Up! products. Often I stick to a particular bundle when creating cards but in this example I have used three different Stamp Sets and two different Die Sets!

I hope you like my Pacific Point Nautical Father’s Day Card. I think it has a real sailing feel without a boat in sight!

Let’s make it…

The (standard A6) card base is created from Whisper White Thick cardstock. I have then cut a strip of Pacific Point cardstock measuring 14.9 x 7.3 cm and adhered it centrally to the card base.

I used the Stamparatus to create a background pattern onto a strip of Whisper White cardstock measuring 14.9 x 7.1 cm. The stamp is from the Pattern Play Stamp Set and I’ve used the hinge-step technique to stamp it repeatedly in Pacific Point ink. As you can see, I’ve used multi-generation stamping to produce different depths of colour. This strip is adhered to the Pacific Point strip using Multipurpose Liquid Glue.

The Stamparatus is perfect for this technique and makes it so easy to produce this kind of effect. If you are interested in purchasing the Stamparatus, why not consider adding it to a Starter Kit during June and you’ll be able to choose £130 worth of product plus a FREE bundle for just £99. Find out more here.

The die cut ‘happy’ is from the Well Written Die Set and is cut out of Pacific Point cardstock – I used the Adhesive Sheets to help adhere this to the card.

The large label is from the Tasteful Labels Die Set and is cut out of Pacific Point cardstock. I have trimmed the edge using my Paper Trimmer such that it sits flush with the edge of the card base. The horizontal banner is from the same Die Set and is used to cut out a piece of Whisper White cardstock. Onto this I have stamped ‘Father’s Day’ from the Well Said Stamp Set and the ‘chevrons’ from the Pattern Play Stamp Set. Both are stamped in Pacific Point but I have stamped off first with the ‘chevrons’.

The final sentiment is from the Round of Applause Stamp Set and I have heat embossed it onto Pacific Point cardstock using White Stampin’ Emboss Powder. This is then cut out using the other banner from the Tasteful Labels Die Set.

The final touch is provided by some ‘splatter’ which I created using the Pacific Point Stampin’ Write Marker.

SU Real Red Colour Challenge 4

Hello and welcome to the forth, and final, week of my Stampin’ Up! Real Red Colour Challenge. This week’s colours are Real Red, Soft Suede and Pear Pizzaz. I decided to use the soon-to-be-retiring Forever Lovely Stamp Set. While stocks last you can grab this stamp set at the bargain price of just £8! Shop here. The coordinating dies are also on Sale at just £12 – find them here while stocks last.

If you would prefer to watch me create the card simply scroll to the end of this blog post where you can watch my video tutorial.

Let’s make it…

The card base is created from Soft Suede cardstock and this is followed by a layer of Whisper White cardstock.

The long floral image is stamped onto the Whisper White layer in Real Red ink and the coordinating long foliage image is stamped in Pear Pizzazz ink.

Three of the large, single flower images are stamped in Real Red ink onto Whisper White cardstock. These are cut out using the coordinating Lovely Flowers Dies. Two different foliage images are stamped in Pear Pizzazz ink onto Whisper White cardstock and these are also cut out using the coordinating dies. These flowers and foliage are layered together and adhered to the card front using Stampin’ Dimensionals.

The ‘thanks’ sentiment is cut out of Soft Suede cardstock using the Stampin’ Up! Well Written dies (which are, thankfully not retiring just yet!).

SU Well Dressed Card

Today I wanted to share with you a card I created for the Colour INKspiration Challenge #74. The colour combination for this challenge is Night of Navy, Whisper White, Basic Grey and Mango Melody and was inspired by the following image…

If you would like to find out more about these challenges, join in or see the entries, you can find them on Facebook here.

My project uses the Stampin’ Up! Well Dressed Stamp Set and Well Written Dies. I decided to use the key image from the Stamp Set to make a Congratulations card which would be suitable for someone moving in to a new home or passing their driving test.

Let’s make it…

The card base is created from Whisper White Thick cardstock and this is followed by a slightly smaller layer of Night of Navy cardstock. The main card front is a slightly smaller again piece of Whisper White cardstock.

I have stamped the key image in Night of Navy and Basic Grey ink all over the card front. This is then adhered to the card base using Multipurpose Liquid Glue.

The sentiment piece is created by layering a Whisper White cardstock circle onto a Night of Navy cardstock circle (using the 2″ and 2.25″ Circle Punches respectively). The sentiment itself is cut from Mango Melody cardstock using the Well Written Dies.

To add an extra little touch of the beautifully bright Mango Melody, I coloured a length of Whisper White Crinkled Seam Binding Ribbon using the Dark Mango Melody Stampin’ Blends. I adhered this to the card front using Mini Glue Dots and then adhered the sentiment piece over the top using Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I think it’s so important to look closely at your stamp sets and think about the less obvious project that you could make with them. For example, the Well Dressed stamp set is great for traditionally masculine cards but that is not the only use for it. Not all of the images are ‘masculine’ and its much more versatile than you may think at first.

Nautical Father’s Day Card

Hello and welcome to part 3 of my Stampin’ Up! Come Sail Away Suite Showcase. If you have missed the first two parts you can find them here (part 1 – Come Sail Away Card, part 2 – Come Sail Away Decoration).

This week I wanted to share another card with you which is perfect for Father’s Day, male Birthdays or any occasion for those who love the sea or boats.

Let’s make it…

The card base is created from Whisper White Thick cardstock. I have then cut a slightly smaller layer of Whisper White cardstock. To this I adhered strips of cardstock in the current Stampin’ Up! blues and blue/greens. These were: Night of Navy, Pacific Point, Bermuda Bay, Coastal Cabana, Balmy Blue, Pool Party, Pretty Peacock and Seaside Spray.

The sentiment was created using the Well Said Stamp Set and coordinating Well Written dies. ‘Father’s Day’ was stamped onto Whisper White cardstock in Night of Navy ink and cut out using the banner die from the Smooth Sailing dies. This was adhered to the card front using Stampin’ Dimensionals. ‘Happy’ was die cut multiple times from Whisper White cardstock and layered together to create one thick sentiment. This was adhered to the card front using Multipurpose Liquid Glue.

The nautical images (lighthouse, boat, compass and anchor) were stamp in Night of Navy ink onto Whisper White cardstock and cut out using the coordinating dies (1.5″ Circle Punch for the compass). The boat, compass and anchor were adhered directly to the card front using Multipurpose Liquid Glue whilst the lighthouse was adhered using Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Paper strips are a really simple but effective way to create a background. You can experiment with different widths and different colour combinations to suit your project.
