SU Verdant Garden Card

Hello and welcome! Today I’m showcasing another Stamp Set that I feel gets overlooked – Verdant Garden. This card was created for a Global Design Project Challenge.

If you would prefer to watch me create the card simply scroll to the end of this blog post where you can watch my video tutorial.

Let’s make it…

The card base is created from Very Vanilla Thick cardstock and this is followed by a slightly smaller layer of Terracotta Tile cardstock. The main card front is a piece of Very Vanilla cardstock, onto which I have stamped the tile pattern in Blueberry Bushel and Terracotta Tile ink.

I cut a window out of the centre of this layer using one of the Stitched Nested Labels Dies. The cardstock was then embossed using the Subtle 3D Embossing Folder.

The sentiment (which is from the Morning Star Stamp Set) is stamped in Terracotta Tile ink onto Very Vanilla cardstock and cut out with the next smallest Stitched Nested Labels Die. This is layered onto a piece of Blueberry Bushel cardstock which has been cut out using the same Stitched Nested Label Die which was used to create the window in the card front.

A length of Terracotta Tile Scalloped Linen Ribbon is doubled over and adhered to the back of the sentiment piece using Tear & Tape. A small length of Blueberry Bushel Grosgrain Ribbon is then tied around this. The whole sentiment piece is then adhered to the card front using Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Verdant Garden Card

Have you ever noticed that some fantastic stamp sets seem to slip under the radar? Take a look on Pinterest and you’ll see the same stamp sets used over and over again while there are very few examples using others.

One of my favourite stamp sets featured in the Stampin’ Up! Annual Catalogue 2019/2020 is Verdant Garden. However, I don’t see many examples on social media platforms. I’m not sure why. It features gorgeous foliage, fabulous patterns and cute sentiments. There is also the coordinating Garden Lane DSP available. What’s not to love?!

Today we are showing Verdant Garden some much deserved love with my latest Colour Challenge project…

If you missed week 1 of my March Colour Challenge, you can find the blog post here.

Let’s make it…

The card base is created from Pear Pizzazz cardstock and I have stamped directly onto it to create a background image. This background image is stamped in Shaded Spruce ink and I have created a frame using the foliage image which is gorgeously intricate. I have also stamped the ‘star’ shape a few times around the card base to tie in with the sentiment piece.

I have stamped the repeating pattern images on Whisper White cardstock in Pear Pizzazz and Crushed Curry ink. These patterns remind my of Moroccan tiles and look wonderful in so many colour combinations. Just above the pattern, I have stamped the sentiment in Shaded Spruce ink. This sentiment is from the Sending You Thoughts Stamp Set which is one of this year’s Sale-A-Bration products so your can earn this for FREE with a £45 spend (before 31st March).

The sentiment piece is cut out using the 2″ Circle Punch and layered onto a piece of Shaded Spruce cardstock cut out using the 2.25″ Circle Punch. The whole piece was adhered to the card base using Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I hope I have inspired you to take a closer look at the Stampin’ Up! Verdant Garden stamp set, I’m sure you won’t regret it.
