Seaside Spray Colour Challenge Week 1

Hello and welcome to a brand new Colour Challenge. This month I will be featuring Seaside Spray and, as always, Week 1 is monochrome. I hope you enjoy my Seaside Spray Colour Challenge Week 1 featuring the Stampin’ Up! Under My Umbrella Stamp Set and coordinating Punch…

Stampin' Up! Seaside Spray Colour Challenge using the Under My Umbrella Stamp Set - by Helen Chapman Handmade Crafts

Let’s make it…

The (standard A6) card base is created from Whisper White Thick cardstock. This is followed by a layer of Seaside Spray cardstock measuring 10 x 14.4 cm. Next is a layer of Whisper White cardstock measuring 9.5 x 13.9 cm and which forms the main card front.

Onto the card front I have repeatedly stamped the flower images from the Under My Umbrella Stamp Set in Seaside Spray ink. A length of Seaside Spray Metallic Ribbon is wrapped around the card front and adhered at the back using Tear & Tape. A second, shorter, length of ribbon is tied onto the first.

The Umbrella and Welly Boots are heat embossed onto Seaside Spray cardstock using White Stampin’ Emboss Powder. The umbrella is cut out using the coordinating Umbrella Builder Punch whilst the boots are fussy cut. I stamped the umbrella handle in Seaside Spray ink onto Whisper White cardstock and cut out using the punch. The whole umbrella is adhered to the card front using Stampin’ Dimensionals.

The sentiment is stamped in Seaside Spray ink onto Whisper White cardstock and cut out using the Stitched Shapes Dies. This is layered onto a larger circle which is cut from Seaside Spray cardstock. Both the boots and the sentiment piece are adhered to the card front using Stampin’ Dimensionals.

The final touch is provided by a few Clear Epoxy Droplets which I just had to use because they look so much like real water droplets.

What do you think to my Seaside Spray Colour Challenge Week 1 Card?

Seaside Spray is such a gorgeous, soft colour that I was really pleased when it was randomly chosen for my July Colour Challenge. I hope you like my Seaside Spray Colour Challenge Week 1 Card. Do you like monochrome cards in general or do you prefer using more than one colour? Next week, Seaside Spray will be combined with Grey Granite and Early Espresso – I hope you can join me.

Granny Apple Green Colour Challenge 1

Hello and welcome to Week 1 of my Granny Apple Green Colour Challenge! As always, Week 1 features a monochrome project – just the challenge colour plus Whisper White, Very Vanilla or Basic Black. So, let’s take a look at my Granny Apple Green Card!

For this challenge I decided to use the Stampin’ Up! Under My Umbrella Stamp Set and coordinating Umbrella Builder Punch.

If you would prefer to see me create the card, simply scroll to the end of this blog post where you can watch my video tutorial.

Let’s make it…

The (standard A6) card base is created from Granny Apple Green cardstock. This is followed by a layer of Whisper White cardstock (measuring 10 x 14.4 cm) which has been embossed using the Ornate Floral 3D Embossing Folder.

The wellies and umbrella are stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black ink onto Whisper White cardstock and coloured using the Granny Apple Green Stampin’ Blends. The wellies are fussy-cut and the umbrella is cut out using the Umbrella Builder Punch.

The sentiment is stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black ink onto Whisper White cardstock and cut out using one of the Tasteful Labels Dies. Another of these dies is used to cut out a banner from Granny Apple Green cardstock.

The banner, sentiment and wellies are layered together using Multipurpose Liquid Glue and adhered to the card front using Stampin’ Dimensionals. The umbrella is also adhered to the card front using Stampin’ Dimensionals.

The final touch is provided by a few Glitter Enamel Dots.

What do you think?

I love my Colour Challenges but I have to say that the monochrome projects tend to be the most difficult to design! However, Granny Apple Green is such a bright and vibrant colour and I was excited to create this card. Green is not generally one of my favourite colours but Stampin’ Up! have a great selection of green tones and I’m starting to change my mind!

Pleased As Punch DSP Card

Did you know that Stampin’ Up! recently released some limited-time coordination products? Check out the page here.

There are die sets which coordinate with the following stamp sets:

  • Happy Birthday To You
  • Little Ladybug
  • Positive Thoughts
  • Sending You Thoughts
  • Special Someone

However, my favourite product from this release is the Pleased As Punch DSP which coordinates with ALL of the following punches:

  • Umbrella Builder
  • Tulip Builder
  • Heart Punch Pack
  • Small Bloom

So, if you have any of those punches (or were thinking of getting them) you can make gorgeous cards like this…

Isn’t that just such a great idea?!

If you would like to purchase any of the items mentioned in this blog (or any other Stampin’ Up! products) you can head straight to my online shop by clicking here or on any of the individual item links below.
