Rest & Relax, It’s Summer Time and You Deserve It!

Timeless Tropical Summer Card

Hello and welcome to the August edition of the Stamptastic Friends Blog Hop! This month our theme is ‘Summer’! It certainly feels like we’ve had a bit of summer over the past few days so this Blog Hop is perfectly timed! This theme immediately made me think of the Timeless Tropical Stamp Set, particularly the ‘Rest & Relax You Deserve It’ sentiment and the pineapple image. I decided to combine this stamp set with a few of the 2020-2022 In Colours because they are so bright, cheerful and ‘summery’. Let’s find out how I created this Timeless Tropical Summer Card…

Don’t forget to carry on hopping once you have read my blog post, the list of participants can be found below.

Let’s Make It…

Start with a (standard A6) Whisper White Thick cardstock base. Next, adhere a 10 x 14.4 cm Magenta Madness cardstock layer to the card base to add a lovely hint of shocking pink! Create the main card front from a 9.5 x 13.9 cm piece of Whisper White.

Use a Magenta Madness Stampin’ Write Marker to create ‘splatters’ across the card front. You can do this using the brush nib end of the marker and flicking it just inside the cap onto the cardstock.

Carefully ink up the pineapple stamp using Bumblebee and Just Jade ink pads. Stamp onto Whisper White cardstock and fussy-cut.

Heat emboss the sentiment in White Stampin’ Emboss Powder onto Basic Black cardstock and trim to 3.5 x 10.5 cm. Cut a length of Magenta Madness Ribbon and double over. Then adhere this to the back of the sentiment piece using Tear & Tape.

Adhere the pineapples to the sentiment piece using Multipurpose Liquid Glue and adhere the whole piece to the card front using Stampin’ Dimensionals.

What do you think to my Timeless Tropical Summer Card?

I hope you like my card. This is a relatively quick card to create but I think the colour combination means that it really packs a punch! I love experimenting with different ways of attaching ribbon to my projects too and this is a lovely subtle way of adding a little extra interest and texture to your cards.

Seaside Spray Colour Challenge Week 3

Hello and welcome to my Stampin’ Up! Seaside Spray Colour Challenge 3. If you missed the first two projects, you can find them here… Week 1, Week 2. This week the colour combination is: Seaside Spray, Pacific Point and Calypso Coral. This seemed like a tropical colour combination so I chose to use the Stampin’ Up! Timeless Tropical Stamp Set…

Let’s make it…

The (standards A6) card base is created from Whisper White Thick cardstock. I then cut strips of Seaside Spray, Pacific Point and Calypso Coral cardstock to 10 x 4.5 cm. These strips were adhered together, on the back, using Tear & Tape.

Next, I heat embossed the large flower twice using White Stampin’ Emboss Powder. The panel was then cut out using the largest of the Stitched Rectangle Dies.

The sentiment is also heat embossed using White Stampin’ Emboss Powder and cut out using another of the Stitched Rectangle Dies. This is adhered to the card front using Stampin’ Dimensionals.

The final touch is provided by a few Rhinestone Basic Jewels which have been coloured using the Dark Seaside Spray Stampin’ Blends Marker.

What do you think to my Seaside Spray Colour Challenge 3 Card?

I hope you like my Seaside Spray Colour Challenge 3 Card. This is such a bright, colourful, tropical colour combination which I’m so glad I was prompted to use – it won’t be the last time!

SU Tropical Oasis Card

Hello and welcome! Today I want to share with you a card I created for the latest Global Design Project Challenge. The sketch for the challenge is shown below…

I decided to use the Stampin’ Up! Tropical Oasis Designer Series Paper (DSP) as the focal point of my project because we could all use some happy, bright, summer images right now! Here is the card I created…

If you would prefer to watch me create the card, simply scroll to the end of this blog post where you can watch my video tutorial!

Let’s make it…

The card base is created from Daffodil Delight cardstock and this is followed by a slightly smaller layer of Tropical Oasis DSP. I have then cut a banner shape from another sheet of DSP and embossed it using the Coastal Weave 3D Embossing Folder. This is adhered to the card front using Multipurpose Liquid Glue.

The sentiment is stamped in Soft Suede ink onto Whisper White cardstock and cut out using one of the Stitched So Sweetly dies. I have then used the next size die to cut a piece of the DSP and layered these together using Multipurpose Liquid Glue.

A small length of Burlap Ribbon is doubled up and adhered to the back of the sentiment piece using Tear & Tape. The whole piece is then adhered to the banner using Stampin’ Dimensionals.

The final touch is added with a few Terracotta Tile In Colour Faceted Dots.

Why not visit the Global Design Project website to find out more about these challenges, see the other entries or join in!
