You Are Simply Wonderful

Hello and welcome! Today I want to share with you a card I made for the May SU! Colour Challenge on Facebook. This Colour Challenge Card uses the combination: Silver, Pretty Peacock, Melon Mambo, Basic Grey and So Saffron. I decided to use the Stampin’ Up! Bloom & Grow Stamp Set and coordinating Budding Blooms Dies.

Let’s make it…

The (standard A6) card base is created from Basic Grey cardstock. This is followed by a 10.2 x 14.6 cm Basic Grey layer.

One of the images from the Bloom & Grow Stamp Set is stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black ink onto Whisper White cardstock. The berries are coloured using the Dark So Saffron Stampin’ Blends and the flowers are coloured using the Pretty Peacock Stampin’ Blends Combo. The image is then cut out using one of the Budding Blooms Dies.

A piece of Whisper White cardstock is cut out using one of the Layering Circles Dies. I have created a splatter effect on the die cut using the Melon Mambo Stampin’ Write Marker. I have layered the floral image onto this die cut and then onto the card front (so that it overlaps the edge) using Multipurpose Liquid Glue and trimmed off the excess using Paper Snips.

A length of Silver Metallic Thread is wound around and adhered to the card front using a Mini Glue Dot.

The sentiment is heat embossed in White Stampin’ Emboss Powder onto Melon Mambo cardstock and trimmed to 3.3 x 10.4 cm using the Paper Trimmer. This piece is adhered to the card front using Stampin’ Dimensionals.

The final touch is provided by a combination of Silver Metallic Pearls and Melon Mambo Glitter Enamel Dots.

I think the touches of Melon Mambo really make all the difference on this card – it’s such a fabulous, fun colour! I love creating Colour Challenge Cards because they encourage me to use colour combinations that I wouldn’t normally think of.

Stitched All Around Card

Hello and welcome! Today I would like to share with you a card I created for the March SU! Colour Challenge. You can find out more about these Colour Challenges, see other entries or join in on their Facebook page. This month the colour combination is: Balmy Blue, Sahara Sand, Cajun Craze and Pretty Peacock – wow! Balmy Blue is a bit of a curve ball in there!

If you would prefer to watch me create the card, simply scroll to the end of this blog post where you can watch my video tutorial!

Here is the project that I created…

Let’s make it…

The card base is created from Cajun Craze cardstock and the main card front is a slightly smaller layer of Sahara Sand cardstock. I have stamped images from the Stampin’ Up! Stitched All Around Stamp Set onto the card front in Pretty Peacock and Cajun Craze ink. I have also used Stampin’ Write Markers in those two colours to create the ‘splatter’ effect.

To incorporate the Balmy Blue I cut out a piece of 6×6″ DSP using the Stitched Labels Dies. This is adhered to the card front using Multipurpose Liquid Glue. On top of this I added a length of Pretty Peacock Scalloped Linen Ribbon which I adhered using Tear & Tape.

The sentiment is stamped in Cajun Craze ink onto Sahara Sand cardstock and cut out using the coordinating Stitched Labels Dies. This is adhered using Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I really enjoy taking part in these creative challenges. If you struggle for inspiration that can provide a wonderful kick-start so why not join in?
