Birthday Bonanza Cake Toppers

Hello and welcome to part 3 of my Stampin’ Up! Birthday Bonanza Suite Showcase. If you missed the first two parts you can find them here… part 1, part 2.

This week I have a really fun project for you – cake toppers! There are so many images in the Bonanza Buddies Stamp Set that lend themselves to these cute little decorations. They are sure to add the perfect finishing touch to any party.

Let’s make them…

I have used the colours from the Suite to stamp the images onto Whisper White cardstock – Terracotta Tile, Grapefruit Grove, Mango Melody, Daffodil Delight, Coastal Cabana and Bermuda Bay. I have also used Smoky Slate and Memento Tuxedo Black.

The Bonanza Dies were used to cut out the bunting (from the Birthday Bonanza DSP) and the characters. The candles and presents were cut using snips as these are really simple shapes.

Where the images are mounted on circles, I have used the 2″ Circle and Starburst Punches in Whisper White and coordinating colours respectively. The ‘Let’s Celebrate You’ sentiment was cut out using the Classic Label punch and this cake topper also features some of the Sequins from the Sale-A-Bration Metallic Baker’s Twine and Sequins Combo pack.

I have cut an extra character using the dies (or circle using the punch) and sandwiched cocktail sticks between the layers to enable them to be placed into the cakes.

Bonanza Buddies Birthday Cards

Welcome to part 2 of my Stampin’ Up! Birthday Bonanza Suite Showcase. If you missed part 1, you can find it here.

This week I really wanted to introduce you to the cute characters in the Stampin’ Up! Bonanza Buddies Stamp Set. With that in mind I decided to create three cards using the same layout but each featuring a different character and sentiment. I hope you like them! Let me know if you have a favourite.

Let’s make them…

For the card bases I have used Terracota Tile (Koala), Coastal Cabana (Lion) and Daffodil Delight (Toucan) cardstock. Each of the main card fronts is created from Whisper White cardstock which has been embossed using the Corrugated 3D Embossing Folder.

I have then trimmed pieces of the Birthday Bonanza DSP diagonally to fit the Whisper White cardstock layer. Wrapped around this is a length of Metallic Baker’s Twine (which can be yours for free with a qualifying spend during Sale-A-Bration). This is adhered at the back of the Whisper White layer using Tear & Tape and the whole piece of adhered to the card base using Multipurpose Liquid Glue.

The animals are stamped in: Smoky Slate (Koala); Daffodil Delight and Mango Melody (Lion) and Memento Tuxedo Black (Toucan) inks and cut out using the coordinating Bonanza dies. These are then layered onto cardstock cut out using the 2″ Circle Punch and the Starburst Punch in coordinating colours: Terracota Tile and Daffodil Delight (Koala); Coastal Cabana and Bermuda Bay (Lion) and Mango Melody and Daffodil Delight (Toucan). I then adhered these to the card front using Stampin’ Dimensionals.

The sentiment pieces have been stamped on Whisper White (Koala and Lion) and Daffodil Delight (Toucan) cardstock in Terracotta Tile (Koala), Coastal Cabana (Lion) and Memento Tuxedo Black (Toucan) ink. The sentiment pieces are cut out using the Stitched Rectangles dies and adhered to the card fronts using Multipurpose Liquid Glue.

I hope you have enjoyed this blog post. If you have any questions or comments please leave them below or email me at helen@papercraftlife.com

Which of the characters is your favourite? I think mine is the Lion as I love the extra layering for his mane, face and tail!

Birthday Bonanza Gift Tag

Welcome to Part 1 of my Stampin’ Up! Birthday Bonanza Suite Showcase! There is a slight change of plan this week as the Bonanza Buddies Stamp Set was on backorder and hasn’t arrived in time for the blog! However, I do have the Bonanza Dies and the Birthday Bonanza DSP so I designed a project using these. I hope you like it!

Let’s make it…

Start by cutting three of the tag shapes – two from Bermuda Bay cardstock, and one from the Birthday Bonanza DSP. Adhere the DSP tag to one of the Bermuda Bay cardstock tags to reinforce it. Next, cut a window out of the remaining Bermuda Bay cardstock tags using the Stitched Rectangles dies.

Cut the two banners from Birthday Bonanza DSP and adhere to the Bermuda Bay tag so that they cross the ‘window’. Trim so that you only have small ‘tails’ extending beyond the tag. Adhere this tag to your DSP tag using Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Colour a length (approx. 20cm) of Crinkled Seam Binding Ribbon using the Mango Melody Dark Stampin’ Blend. Thread this through the hole in the top of the tag. Finally, tie a length (approx. 15cm) of Whisper White Bakers twine around the ribbon for extra decoration and to stop it coming loose.
