Faux Watercolour Gift Tag

Hello and welcome! Today I would like to share with you the faux watercolour technique using Stampin’ Write Markers. These markers can be used in so many different ways and this is one of my favourites.

Faux watercolour technique using Stampin' Write Markers and the Stampin' Up! Tasteful Touches Stamp Set - gift tag by Helen Chapman Handmade Crafts

Let’s make it…

The tag base is a piece of Fluid 100 Watercolour Paper measuring 10 x 2.5 cm.

I have used the flower from the Stampin’ Up! Tasteful Touches Stamp Set and Stampin’ Write Markers in Flirty Flamingo, Melon Mambo and Gorgeous Grape. I used the brush end of the Markers to colour in the flower – I started with Flirty Flamingo on the outer petals and worked inwards with Melon Mambo and finally Gorgeous Grape in the centre of the flower.

Once I had applied the ink with the Markers, I spritzed the stamp with water using a Stampin’ Spritzer. I then stamped onto the paper twice – once in the bottom right corner and once in the top right (without reinking). It’s best to hold the stamp in place for a few seconds to allow the water and the ink to soak in to the paper.

I heat embossed the sentiment (also from the Tasteful Touches Stamp Set) in White Stampin’ Emboss Powder onto Gorgeous Grape cardstock and trimmed it to 10 x 2 cm.

I adhered the sentiment to the tag base and then shaped the tag using the Delightful Tag Topper Punch. It is finished off with a length of Polka Dot Tulle Ribbon.
