Embossing on Patterned Paper

Hello and welcome! Today I’d like to share with you a project which involves embossing on patterned paper. This is a technique that I love to use but which people often forget about. It can be really effective – stamp large images or sentiments on fairly plain patterned paper or add your own extra patterns.

The card that I want to share is so quick and simple to make but I think the combination of wood grain, white and Early Espresso is really effective. You could, of course, step the card up if you wanted – perhaps with ribbon, embellishments, die-cuts or more stamping!

Embossing on Stampin' Up! In Good Taste patterned paper - card by Helen Chapman Handmade Crafts

Let’s make it…

The (standard A6) card base is created from Whisper White Thick cardstock. This is followed by a layer of Early Espresso cardstock measuring 10 x 14.4 cm. Next is a layer of the In Good Taste Designer Series Paper (DSP) measuring 9.5 x 13.9 cm which forms the main card front.

Onto the card front, I have heat embossed one of the large Swirly Frames and the sentiment (from the Stampin’ Up! So Sentimental Stamp Set) in white Stampin’ Emboss Powder. And that’s it! So simple!

What do you think to my Embossing on Patterned Paper Card?

Do you like embossing on patterned paper or is it a technique you have heard of but not tried? Why not give it a try? Which DSP have you got in your stash that you think would be great for this?

Forever Greenery DSP Cards

Hello and welcome! Today I would like to share with you these Forever Greenery DSP Cards. The 2020-2021 Stampin’ Up! Annual Catalogue is full of gorgeous Designer Series Paper (DSP). DSP is a great buy because the designs are so fabulous that they do most of the work for you if you want to make a quick and simple card but they also lend themselves to really stepped-up cards. Today I’m sharing two really quick and simple cards.

Stampin' Up! Forever Greenery DSP Cards by Helen Chapman Handmade Crafts

Let’s make them…

The (standard A6) card bases are created from Pretty Peacock cardstock. In both cases, this is followed by a layer of the Stampin’ Up! Forever Greenery DSP measuring 10 x 14.4 cm.

The sentiments are stamped in Pretty Peacock ink onto Whisper White cardstock and cut out using the 2″ Circle Punch. The ‘sending healing hugs’ sentiment is from the Stampin’ Up! So Sentimental Stamp Set and the ‘from my heart to yours’ sentiment is from the Stampin’ Up! Heartfelt Stamp Set.

The sentiments are adhered to circles of Pretty Peacock cardstock cut out using the 2.25″ Circle Punch.

The Sprig Punch has been used to cut out pieces of cardstock in the main Suite Colours: Garden Green, Just Jade, Pear Pizzazz, Pretty Peacock, Shaded Spruce and Soft Sea Foam. Three sprigs were adhered to the back of each sentiment piece and the whole piece adhered to the card front using Stampin’ Dimensionals.

What do you think to my Forever Greenery DSP Cards?

The great thing about DSP is that if you really love a Suite but your budget doesn’t stretch to the whole thing, you can get the same feel by purchasing the DSP and using sentiments from stamp sets you already have, combined with any extra embellishments that coordinate! Quick and Simple Baby Card

Hello and welcome! Today I wanted to share with you a really quick and simple card to welcome a new baby. I have used a really clean and subtle colour palette for this card, I hope you like it! It’s perfect for those of you who don’t yet have a die cutting machine too as you only need a paper trimmer!

Let’s make it…

The (standard A6) card base is created from Whisper White Thick cardstock. This is followed by a 10 x 14.4 cm layer of Whisper White standard cardstock.

The sentiment that I have used is from the Stampin’ Up! So Sentimental Stamp Set. I have cut 6 squares of Whisper White cardstock measuring 3 x 3 cm and stamped the sentiment onto them in the following colours: Pool Party, Highland Heather, So Saffron, Calypso Coral, Mint Macaron and Blushing Bride. The squares are adhered to the card front using Stampin’ Dimensionals.

The final touch is provided by a few Basic Adhesive-Backed Sequins.

I think this card would look great in a number of different colour schemes – you could even just use one ink colour and then just put one of the squares on dimensionals to help it stand out.

What do you think?

I hope you like my project. If you have any questions or comments please leave them below or email me at helen@papercraftlife.com
