Hello and welcome to week 1 of my Stampin’ Up! Come Sail Away Suite Showcase. This Suite is made up of the Sailing Home bundle as well as a Designer Series Paper (DSP) pack, Embossing Folder, Baker’s Twine and metal Trinkets.

This Suite is perfect for anyone who loves sailing or the sea but it is great for so much more. The stamp set has sentiments to cover congratulations and thank you but also motivational phrases such as ‘Set sail in the direction of your dreams’ – and the font is fabulous.
This week I wanted to share with you a simple card which can be created with just the Sailing Home stamp set and some basic supplies. In the coming weeks we will ‘step up’ the projects to include more products from the Suite.

Let’s make it…
The card base is created from Whisper White Thick cardstock. I have then followed this with a slightly smaller layer of Night of Navy cardstock. The main card front is a layer of Fluid 100 Watercolour Paper.
I created a watercolour wash using Night of Navy ink. Firstly, I used an Aqua Painter to wet the entire layer of watercolour paper. I then pressed a small acrylic block into my Night of Navy ink pad to form a palette. I used the Aqua Painter to pick up ink from the palette and apply to the watercolour paper until I achieved the desired coverage.
Once dry, I spritzed water onto the paper using a Stampin’ Spritzer and dabbed with a tissue to lift some of the ink.

Again, once dry, I stamped images and the sentiment (Let hope be your anchor through the storms of life) from the Sailing Home Stamp Set in Night of Navy ink. I distressed the edges using a distressing tool (you can use the blade of a pair of scissors if you don’t have a distressing tool BUT be very careful – please!) and curled the corners to give a worn look.

I adhered the watercolour paper to the card base by applying Multipurpose Liquid Glue to the centre. Don’t stick down your distressed edges though else you’ll diminish the effect.
I think this would be a wonderful card for someone who is going through hard times. Let them know you are thinking of them and remind them to hold on to hope.
