Let’s Make It…

The (standard A6) card base is created from Soft Suede cardstock. The next layer is a piece of Whisper White cardstock measuring 13.9 x 9.5 cm.

Stamp the large tree in Soft Suede ink into the centre of the Whisper White layer. Cut this out using the coordinating die from the Nature’s Roots Die Set.

Use the (approx.) 7.6 x 11 cm Stitched Rectangle Die to cut a frame from the remaining piece of Whisper White cardstock. You should now have three pieces – the tree, the stitched frame (with the tree cut out of it) and the outer frame (with the rectangle cut out of it).

Emboss the outer frame using the Pinewood Planks 3D Embossing Folder. Adhere this to the card base using Multipurpose Liquid Glue.

Adhere the stitched frame to the card base using Stampin’ Dimensionals. Apply Multipurpose Liquid Glue to the back of the tree die cut and carefully place it into the aperture in the raised frame.

Stamp the sentiment onto Whisper White cardstock in Soft Suede ink and cut out using the (approx.) 2.2 x 7.3 cm Stitched Rectangle Die. Cut a small length of Copper Metallic Ribbon (from the Basket Weave & Metallic Ribbon Combo Pack) and adhere at the back of the sentiment piece using Tear & Tape. Cut another small length of the ribbon, thread it through one of the Acorn Trinkets and tie to the first piece of ribbon. Adhere the sentiment piece to the raised frame using Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I think this card is a fabulous combination of clean and simple with a few great techniques thrown in. The Whisper White and Soft Suede colour scheme works so well with the copper embellishments.

Step It Up… Rooted In Nature

Hello and welcome to the latest in my Step It Up Series! This follows on from my Stampin’ Basics Series which looked at everything you need to start your stamping and some hints and tips on how to get better results from your stamping. Now we are moving on to the ways in which you can take your projects to the next level!

In each episode we will look at a simple stamping project (just stamps, ink and cardstock needed) and explore different techniques and products that can be used to ‘Step It Up’.

If you would prefer to watch me create the cards, simply scroll to the end of this blog post where you will find my video tutorial.

Today I’m using the Stampin’ Up! Rooted In Nature Stamp Set, and this is my ‘simple stamping’ project…

Stampin' Up! Rooted In Nature Card by Helen Chapman Handmade Crafts

Let’s Make It…

The (standard A6) card base is created from Crumb Cake cardstock. This is followed by a layer of Whisper White cardstock measuring 10 x 14.4 cm, which forms the main card front.

Onto the card front, I have repeatedly stamped the sentiment in Terracotta Tile ink, using multiple generations. I have then stamped the foliage images in Crumb Cake and Early Espresso ink.

Step It Up… Version 1

Stampin' Up! Rooted In Nature Card by Helen Chapman Handmade Crafts

As in the previous example, the card base is created from Crumb Cake cardstock. This time, the Whisper White card front layer measures 9.5 x 13.9 cm.

I have stamped the foliage in Crumb Cake and Early Espresso ink, as previously, but this time they are cut out using the coordinating Nature’s Roots Dies. This are adhered to the card front as shown.

A length of Terracotta Tile Scalloped Linen Ribbon is wrapped around the card front and adhered at the back using Tear & Tape. The card front can then be adhered to the card base.

The sentiment is stamped in Terracotta Tile ink onto Whisper White cardstock and cut out using one of the Stitched Rectangle Dies. The next two largesr dies are used to cut out pieces of Early Espresso and Crumb Cake cardstock. These are layered together with the sentiment and adhered to the card front.

Step It Up… Version 2

Stampin' Up! Rooted In Nature Card by Helen Chapman Handmade Crafts

As in the previous two cards, the card base is created from Crumb Cake cardstock. This is followed by a layer of Early Espresso cardstock measuring 10 x 14.4 cm. The card front is formed by a layer of Whisper White cardstock measuring 9.5 x 13.9 cm. In this case, the card front is embossed using the Pinewood Planks 3D Embossing Folder.

The foliage and sentiment piece are created as in the previous card but this time the foliage is adhered to the back of the sentiment piece.

A length of Terracotta Tile Scalloped Linen Ribbon is doubled over and adhered to the back of the sentiment piece using Tear & Tape. A length of Braided Linen Trim is tied around the ribbon to add extra decoration. The whole piece is then adhered to the card front using Stampin’ Dimensionals.

SU Rooted In Nature Card

Hello and welcome! I am delighted to say that I recently won an AAA Cards Challenge! If you would like to look back at the winning card, you can find it here. Having won the challenge, I was invited to be a Guest Designer for the latest challenge. Of course, I said yes!

The challenge rules are shown in the graphic below. You can visit the AAA Cards website to find out more about these challenges, view the entries or take part yourself.

I decided to use the Stampin’ Up! Rooted In Nature Stamp Set and to include the optional twist in my design. I hope you like it…

Let’s make it…

The (standard A6 size) card base is created from Soft Sea Foam cardstock and this is followed by a layer of Whisper White cardstock measuring 10 x 14.4 cm.

Onto this Whisper White card front I stamped the sentiment in Memento Tuxedo Black ink in the bottom left hand corner.

I stamped the small leaf image three times, in Soft Sea Foam, Blushing Bride and Balmy Blue ink. I used a simple mask to ensure that the images didn’t pass the one third point.

I think this is such a clean and fresh colour combination, even if a little unexpected for leaves!

What do you think?

SU Rooted In Nature Card

Hello and welcome! Today I would like to share with you a card I created for the latest Colour INKspiration Challenge. The colour combination for this challenge is: Cherry Cobbler, Pumpkin Pie, Very Vanilla and Pear Pizzazz. When I first thought about these colours Autumn sprang to mind so I decided to use the Stampin’ Up! Rooted In Nature Stamp Set. However, I didn’t want the really bold look of Cherry Cobbler and Pumpkin Pie for this particular card. What to do?! The answer? Sponge Daubers (obviously)!

If you would prefer to watch me create the card, simply scroll to the end of this blog post where you can watch my video tutorial.

Let’s make it…

The (standard A6) card base is created from Whisper White Thick cardstock. I have then cut a (14.4 x 5 cm) strip of Whisper White cardstock and embossed it using the Pinewood Planks 3D Embossing Folder.

I used Sponge Daubers to ink up the leaf stamp such that the images look as if the leaves are changing colour (as they do in Autumn). The image is stamped repeatedly using different combinations of Cherry Cobbler, Pumpkin Pie and Pear Pizzazz. These are cut out using the coordinating Nature’s Roots Dies and adhered to the back of the embossed strip using Multipurpose Liquid Glue.

The sentiment is produced using the same technique and cut out using one of the Stitched So Sweetly Dies. Two leaves are die cut from Very Vanilla cardstock and embossed using the Nature’s Roots Dies. These are adhered to the back of the sentiment piece and the whole piece adhered to the card front using Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Finally I have coloured some Basic Pearl Jewels using the Cherry Cobbler and Pumpkin Pie Stampin’ Blends and adhered them around the sentiment.

What do you think?
