How to make a masculine birthday card using ink blending

Hello and welcome to week 4 of my Stampin’ Up! Misty Moonlight Colour Challenge. This week we are combining it with Crumb Cake and Mossy Meadow. These are really natural tones so I was torn between Rooted in Nature and Sailing Home. In the end I decided on this Sailing Home masculine card using ink blending – I hope you like it!

Let’s Make It… Sailing Home Masculine Card

Start with a (standard A6) card base created from Misty Moonlight cardstock. This is followed by a layer of Whisper White cardstock measuring 10 x 14.4 cm. Emboss the Whisper White layer using the Old World Paper 3D Embossing Folder. I have further distressed the edges using a distressing tool. If you don’t have a distressing tool, you can achieve a similar effect using the blade of a paper of scissors (please be careful if using this method). Add extra interest to the Whisper White layer by splattering ink onto it using the Misty Moonlight, Crumb Cake and Mossy Meadow Stampin’ Write Markers. To do this, remove the cap from the brush tip end, place the brush tip just inside the cap and flick against the inside edge of the cap.

Trim a piece of Shimmery White cardstock to 6.4 x 9.8 cm. Use a Sponge Brayer to blend from Misty Moonlight to Crumb Cake to Mossy Meadow. Spritz water onto the surface using a Stampin’ Spritzer and dab with a piece of tissue to lift some of the ink. Cut a length of Misty Moonlight ribbon and adhere to the back of this Shimmery White layer using Tear & Tape. Stamp the sentiment (I used ‘Happy Birthday’ from the Framed For You Stamp Set) in Misty Moonlight ink onto Whisper White cardstock. Cut out using the Tasteful Labels Dies and adhere to the back of the Shimmery White layer.

Stamp the lighthouse in Misty Moonlight ink, the compass in Crumb Cake ink and the anchor in Mossy Meadow ink and cut out using the coordinating Smooth Sailing Dies (the compass requires a circle punch or die – I used the Stitched Shapes Dies). Adhere these elements as shown.

All You Need Is Confidence (and Coffee) – Press On!

Hello and welcome to Week 3 of my Stampin’ Up! Misty Moonlight Colour Challenge. This week it is combined with Night of Navy and Daffodil Delight. I immediately thought of the ‘sun rays’ of the Press On Stamp Set when I saw Daffodil Delight so I created this Coffee and Confidence Card…

Let’s Make It… Coffee and Confidence Card

Start with a (standard A6) card base created from Night of Navy cardstock. Follow this with a layer of Daffodil Delight cardstock measuring 10 x 14.4 cm. The main card front is a layer of Whisper White cardstock measuring 9.5 x 13.9 cm.

Onto the card front, stamp the presents from the Stampin’ Up! Family Party Stamp Set in both Petal Pink and Balmy Blue ink. Add the decorations and bows by stamping in Misty Moonlight ink. Fill any unwanted white-space by stamping the star cluster in Misty Moonlight ink.

Stamp the sentiment onto Petal Pink cardstock in Misty Moonlight ink. I have used the ‘Happy Birthday’ sentiment from the Stampin’ Up! Pallet Thoughts Stamp Set. Cut out the sentiment using the banner from the Stampin’ Up! Tasteful Labels Dies. Cut another banner from Balmy Blue cardstock and layer these together. Adhere the banners to the card front using Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals.

What do you think to my Family Party Birthday Card?

I hope you enjoyed finding out how to make this Family Party Birthday Card. Misty Moonlight is still my favourite of the 2020-2022 In Colours and I think it looks great combined with Balmy Blue and Petal Pink. I’m sure I’ll be using this colour combination again in the near future.
