Daisy Lane – part 4

In the 4th instalment of my Daisy Lane Stamp Set Showcase I wanted to create three different cards using the same colour scheme. I have chosen the combination of Very Vanilla and Blackberry Bliss which I think works really well and produces a lovely, sophisticated look.

Many delightful daisies…

The first card is a Very Vanilla A6 tent fold card with a 14.3x10cm Blackberry Bliss layer followed by a 13.8×9.5cm Very Vanilla layer. The Very Vanilla layer is stamped in Blackberry Bliss ink using one of the stamps from the Gallery Grunge stamp sets. Stamp sets which contain background and texture stamps are a great addition to your craft stash as they can be used to add interest and texture on any type of card and are particularly useful if you have a fear of ‘white space’ on projects.

The smaller of the two daisies has been stamped onto Very Vanilla cardstock four times and cut out using the Medium Daisy punch. This is part of the Daisy Lane bundle and you’ll save 10% if you purchase the punch and stamp set together. Punching the Daisy out of Blackberry Bliss cardstock twice and adhering them together creates a ‘fuller’ flower and a darker background to help the sentiment stand out. I have adhered this flower using a dimensional. ‘You mean the world to me’ is one of many really sweet sentiments from the Well Said stamp set. This is stamped in Blackberry Bliss onto Very Vanilla cardstock, cut out using the Classic Label punch and adhered to the flower.

Fantastic feature foliage…

The second card is a Very Vanilla A6 side fold card, again with a 14.3x10cm Blackberry Bliss layer followed by a 13.8×9.5cm Very Vanilla layer. This time, however, I have wrapped a piece of Blackberry Bliss twine (from the Nature’s Twine pack) around the Very Vanilla layer and adhered it using dimensionals – just make sure to do this after the stamping! Multi generation stamping in Blackberry Bliss has been used for the foliage with two first generation impressions on the outer extremes, followed by two second generation impressions working inwards and finally a third generation impression in the centre. Blackberry Bliss ink has also been used for the ‘Birthday’ stamp from the Well Said stamp set and the ‘happy’ has been die cut from Blackberry Bliss cardstock using the Well Written die set.

Beautiful birthday textures…

The third card is an A6 tent fold card with a single Very Vanilla layer measuring 13.8×9.5cm. I have used a couple of the other stamps from the Gallery Grunge stamp set to add interest to opposite corners of the card. The ‘birthday’ sentiment has been stamped in Blackberry Bliss ink onto Very Vanilla cardstock and cut out using the 2” circle punch and the ‘happy’ has been die cut from Blackberry Bliss cardstock as in the previous card. Two of the smaller daisies have been stamped in Blackberry Bliss ink on Very Vanilla cardstock and cut out using the punch. These have been adhered together with a rotation to give a ‘fuller’ flower. Four more daisies have been cut from Blackberry Bliss cardstock using the punch and adhered to give two flowers. The finishing touch is provided by using Clear Faceted Gems for the flower centres (don’t forget these can be coloured using Blends if you are using a different colour scheme).

Enjoy Life part 3

Today we are continuing the ‘Enjoy Life’ stamp set showcase. Again, I have chosen projects that demonstrate the versatility of this stamp set. These projects use a completely different colour palette than the previous two blog posts. I have gone for neutral colours with Sahara Sand, Whisper White and Early Espresso and I think this looks great used with the silhouette stamps in this set.

Enjoy Life Card

Starting from a Sahara Sand card base, I have stamped on a layer of Whisper White cardstock in Early Espresso ink. Adding the small flower stamp to the image of the grass adds a bit of extra interest and allows you to build up a unique scene every time. I have stamped the Crackle Paint background onto Sahara Sand cardstock in Early Espresso ink and added a strip of Burlap Ribbon. This piece is adhered to the Whisper White layer. The sentiment (which is fabulous) is stamped in Early Espresso ink onto Whisper White cardstock and cut out using one of the Stitched Rectangle dies. An extra rectangle in Sahara Sand adds a nice little tab and helps to tie in with the gift tag.

Enjoy Life Gift Tag

Again, I have started from a Sahara Sand cardstock base for the gift tag and stamped the Crackle Paint background in Early Espresso ink. The tag is created using the Scalloped Tag Topper punch. A strip of Burlap Ribbon is adhered to the tag, followed by the small sentiment piece which is stamped in Early Espresso ink onto Sahara Sand cardstock and cut out using one of the Stitched Rectangle dies. The final layer is Whisper White cardstock with the corners rounded at the top and then the silhouettes stamped in Early Espresso ink. Final touches are added with the twine and thread.

Next time…

I hope you have enjoyed this blog post. Let me know if you have any questions. Next week will be the final instalment for ‘Enjoy Life’ and we’ll explore a different Stamp Set. It might even be something from the new catalogue!

Enjoy Life – part 2

As I mentioned in last week’s blog post, Enjoy Life is a really versatile stamp set. To show you what I mean I have decided to feature a couple of cards I made as part of my Saturday Challenge a while ago. If you compare these cards to the projects that I showed you last week you can see just how different they are.

Thank You Kindly

The first card is made from a Whisper White thick cardstock base with a second Whisper White layer where I have rounded the corners. One of the foliage images is stamped in Blackberry Bliss in the corner of the second layer. The sentiment is also stamped in Blackberry Bliss onto Whisper White cardstock and cut out using the 2” circle punch and I have also added one of the butterfly images. The central element is created by layering a 2.25” punched circle of Blackberry Bliss, then one of the Pearlized Doilies and the sentiment piece. I gave this some depth by adhering to the main card using dimensionals and used some Silver Metallic Thread and one of the silver Leaves Trinkets. Final touches are added with the Faceted Dots and Metallic Pearls.

How Beautiful A Day Can Be When Kindness Touches It

The second card is also made from a Whisper White thick cardstock base, this time with a second layer of Night of Navy cardstock. A third layer of Bermuda Bay cardstock has been stamped in Night of Navy using the bird, butterfly and foliage images. Night of Navy baker’s twine has been wrapped around the top two layers and one of the wooden butterfly elements from Sale-A-Bration (no longer available) adhered across the twine. Although these are no longer available, any wooden elements such as the hearts from the Frames Elements could also be used. Two more of the wooden elements have been used under the sentiment piece. The sentiment is stamped in Night of Navy onto Whisper White cardstock and cut out using the 2” circle punch. This is layer onto a 2.25” punched circle in Night of Navy.

Enjoy Life – Part 1

This month I wanted to look at the wonderfully named Enjoy Life stamp set. I think this is one of the most versatile stamp sets that I own which makes it a firm favourite. Whether you want to use the image of the cyclist, the celebrating figure or the foliage, bird and butterflies (or a combination of these) you will be able to create some fabulous projects. There are also some wonderfully up-lifting sentiments which will put a smile on your face, and that of the recipient.

The Projects…

In the first part of this series, I have created a matching set made up of a greeting card, gift tag and gift box. I have chosen fairly masculine colours but these could easily be changed to create a more neutral, or feminine look. The main image I wanted to use was that of the cyclist. As some of you may know, I used to do a lot (!) of cycling so this stamp appealed to me immediately. Cycling is a really popular hobby these days so I’m sure you all know someone who enjoys getting out on two wheels and would be super happy to receive this set of projects for their birthday or to congratulate them for a recent epic ride!

Greeting Card…

What a sentiment! Isn’t it great! It makes me smile every time I read it.

For the base card I have used Basic Black cardstock and stamped one of the foliage images in Whisper White along the bottom edge. I have then layered a piece of Cherry Cobbler cardstock which also has some foliage stamped across it. The cyclist is heat embossed in Black Stampin’ Emboss Powder and cut out using the 2.25” circle punch. The same punch is also used to cut a piece of Basic Black cardstock and then I’ve layered a 2” piece of Whisper White cardstock with the sentiment stamped in Cherry Cobbler. Final touches were added with Silver Metallic Thread and Black Faceted Dots.

Gift Box…

We all like to make our gifts look special and the range of Stampin’ Up! gift bags and boxes are great for doing just that. All you need to do is decorate them.

In this case I have used Cherry Cobbler ribbon and wrapped it around the Silver Mini Gable Box three times before tying a bow. I really think this adds a little bit of extra impact than simply wrapping it around once and tying. I have punched a 2.25” Basic Black circle, a Cherry Cobbler Starburst and a 2” Whisper White circle and layered them up. The image and sentiment are stamped in Cherry Cobbler. Again, final touches are added with Silver Metallic Thread and Black Faceted Dots.

Gift Tag…

I love them! But you know that by now. Why let your gift-giving down with a boring gift tag when they are so simple and fun to make?

The main tag is Basic Black cardstock with stripes of Cherry Cobbler cardstock across it and I’ve used the Scalloped Tag Topper punch. Basic Black Solid Baker’s Twine is threaded through the top of the tag to allow it to be attached to the gift. I have punched a 2.25” Basic Black circle and a 2” Whisper White circle and stamped the image and sentiment in Cherry Cobbler. Final touches were added with Silver Metallic Thread and Black Faceted Dots to tie all of the projects together.

If you’d like to recreate any of these projects, the supply list can be found below. Simply click on a link to go directly to my online shop. If there’s anything you are not sure of, let me know and I can do a video tutorial.
