How to make a simple Triptych Christmas Card

Hello and welcome! Today I’d like to share with you a card I created for the latest Global Design Project Challenge. This was a sketch challenge and I decided to use the Heartwarming Hugs Suite to create this gorgeous but simple triptych Christmas card. You can see the sketch below or visit the link above to find out more, view the other entries or join in!

Let’s Make It… Simple Triptych Christmas Card

Start with a (standard A6) card base created from Real Red cardstock. Follow this with a layer of Whisper White cardstock measuring 8.5 x 12.8 cm. Create the three panels using the Heartwarming Hugs Designer Series Paper (DSP), each measuring 7.5 x 3.5 cm.

Adhere the three panels to the Whisper White layer, trying to keep the spacing the same throughout. Use a piece of Tear & Tape to attach a length of Mossy Meadow Diagonal Stripe Ribbon across the panels.

Thread a length of Real Red Braided Linen Trim through one of the Glitter Star Ornaments. Tie the trim in place and adhere the star to the ribbon using a Mini Glue Dot.

Stamp the sentiment onto Whisper White cardstock in Real Red ink and trim to size. Stamp the Christmas Tree and Mug onto Whisper White cardstock using Mossy Meadow ink and cut out using the coordinating dies. Adhere one to each end of the sentiment piece.

Use two lengths of Foam Adhesive strips to the back of the sentiment such that they avoid the star and attach to the card front.

What do you think to my Simple Triptych Christmas Card?

I hope you enjoyed finding out how to make this simple triptych Christmas card. This card could be recreated for many different occasions by using alternative DSPs that you have in your stash. You might also want to try using three different patterns for the three panels. The possibilities are endless but you are sure to end up with a fabulous card.

Retirement Party Card!

Let me make one thing clear before we get started, I don’t normally name my cards! However, this one just had to be called ‘Retirement Party’ because it features all of the retiring In Colours and my favourite retiring bundle – Stitched All Around, and it has such a happy, party feel to it!

This card was created for the latest Global Design Project Challenge. Click on the link to find out more about these challenges, see other entries and join in. The sketch for the challenge is shown below…

Here is my take on the sketch…

Let’s make it…

The (standard A6) card base is created from Whisper White Thick cardstock. This is followed by a 13.9 x 10 cm layer of standard Whisper White cardstock which I have coloured using a Sponge Brayer. The colours used on this layer are Pineapple Punch, Grapefruit Grove and Lovely Lipstick.

I have cut lengths of each of the In Colour 2018-2020 Grosgrain Ribbons and stapled them to the coloured layer – I also used a small piece of Tear & Tape (positioned such that it would be covered by the die cuts) to hold them in place.

The large label from the Stitched Labels Dies is cut out of Whisper White cardstock and I have used the Call Me Clover Stampin’ Write Marker to create a splatter effect. The edge of the label is trimmed and it is then adhered to the card front using Stampin’ Dimensionals.

The sentiment is stamped in Blueberry Bushel ink onto Whisper White cardstock and cut out using the long label from the Stitched Labels Dies. Again I have used a Stampin’ Write Marker to create a splatter effect. The sentiment piece is adhered to the larger label using Multipurpose Liquid Glue.

The final touch is provided by some of the Happiness Blooms Enamel Dots in Pineapple Punch, Call Me Clover and Lovely Lipstick.

What do you think?

SU Verdant Garden Card

Hello and welcome! Today I’m showcasing another Stamp Set that I feel gets overlooked – Verdant Garden. This card was created for a Global Design Project Challenge.

If you would prefer to watch me create the card simply scroll to the end of this blog post where you can watch my video tutorial.

Let’s make it…

The card base is created from Very Vanilla Thick cardstock and this is followed by a slightly smaller layer of Terracotta Tile cardstock. The main card front is a piece of Very Vanilla cardstock, onto which I have stamped the tile pattern in Blueberry Bushel and Terracotta Tile ink.

I cut a window out of the centre of this layer using one of the Stitched Nested Labels Dies. The cardstock was then embossed using the Subtle 3D Embossing Folder.

The sentiment (which is from the Morning Star Stamp Set) is stamped in Terracotta Tile ink onto Very Vanilla cardstock and cut out with the next smallest Stitched Nested Labels Die. This is layered onto a piece of Blueberry Bushel cardstock which has been cut out using the same Stitched Nested Label Die which was used to create the window in the card front.

A length of Terracotta Tile Scalloped Linen Ribbon is doubled over and adhered to the back of the sentiment piece using Tear & Tape. A small length of Blueberry Bushel Grosgrain Ribbon is then tied around this. The whole sentiment piece is then adhered to the card front using Stampin’ Dimensionals.

SU Sailing Home Card

Hello and welcome to part 5 of my Stampin’ Up! Come Sail Away Suite Showcase. This week I want to share with you a card I created for the Global Design Project Challenge #233. This is a colour challenge using the combination Pool Party, So Saffron and Petal Pink. If you would like to find out more about these challenges, see the other entries or join in you can find their website here.

This might not be an obvious colour combination for the Stampin’ Up! Come Sail Away Suite but this week I’ve been trying to ‘think outside the box’! This is my entry…

Let’s make it…

The card base is created from Whisper White Thick cardstock. I have then cut a layer of Whisper White cardstock to 8 x 12.9cm. One of the images from the Stampin’ Up! Bokeh Dots Stamp Set has been stamped onto Whisper White cardstock in all three of the challenge colours – Pool Party, So Saffron and Petal Pink. These images were then trimmed.

I adhered the Petal Pink piece to the top of the Whisper White cardstock strip using Multipurpose Liquid Glue. I then ripped along the top edge of the Pool Party piece and adhered this such that it overlapped slightly with the Petal Pink piece. I repeated this with the So Saffron piece to create the main card front.

Images and one of the sentiments from the Stampin’ Up! Sailing Home Stamp Set were stamped in Petal Pink ink onto Whisper White cardstock and cut out using the coordinating Smooth Sailing Dies. Note: the compass is actually cut out using the 1.5″ Circle Punch.

A length of Whisper White Crinkled Seam Binding Ribbon has been coloured using the Dark Pool Party Stampin’ Blends and then looped through the anchor and tied in place with a length of Silver Metallic Thread.

The die-cut images are adhered to the card front using Multipurpose Liquid Glue and the sentiment is adhered using Stampin’ Dimensionals.
