I Love Non-traditional Christmas Cards! Do You?

Welcome to Week 3 of my Coastal Cabana Colour Challenge! If you missed the previous two projects, you can find them here… Week 1 and Week 2. This week the combination is Coastal Cabana, Basic Grey and Pear Pizzazz. Given this combination, you first thought is probably not ‘Christmas’ but I love non-traditional Christmas cards! I’m sure this card will divide opinions for a number of reasons but what do YOU think?

Let’s Make It…

Start with a (standard A6) landscape card base created from Basic Grey cardstock. Next trim a piece of the Playing With Patterns DSP to 9.5 x 13.9 cm and adhere it to the card base.

Punch three trees from Pear Pizzazz cardstock using the Pine Tree Punch.

Stamp the sentiment in Basic Grey ink onto a small piece of the DSP and cut out using the Tasteful Labels Dies. Use the larger label die to cut out a piece of Basic Grey cardstock and layer these together.

Adhere the trees to the back of the sentiment piece using Multipurpose Liquid Glue and adhere the whole piece to the card front using Stampin’ Dimensionals.

For the final touch, use a few of the Playing With Patterns Resin Dots to decorate the trees!

What do you think to my Non-traditional Christmas Card?

I hope you like my Non-traditional Christmas Card! Do you prefer something a little more traditional? Or maybe its just too early to even be thinking about Christmas (particularly given the weather we’ve had recently!)? What would you have created using this colour combination?

Hello and welcome to Week 2 of my Coastal Cabana Colour Challenge. If you missed Week 1, you can find it here. This week the colour combination is: Coastal Cabana, Soft Sea Foam and Pumpkin Pie! I’ll admit that this one had me stumped for a while. This is not a combination that I would ever have thought of using. However, I decided to use the Stampin’ Up! Press On Stamp Set and came up with this Full Of Perks Card…

Coastal Cabana Monochrome Card

Hello and welcome to a brand new month of Colour Challenges! First up we have my Coastal Cabana Monochrome Card. I immediately thought of the Stampin’ Up! Sailing Home Stamp Set for this card and here is what I created…

Stampin' Up! Sailing Home Coastal Cabana Monochrome Card by Helen Chapman Handmade Crafts

Let’s make it…

The (standard A6) card base is created from Coastal Cabana cardstock. This is followed by a layer of Whisper White cardstock measuring 10 x 14.4 cm, which forms the main card front.

Stampin' Up! Sailing Home Coastal Cabana Monochrome Card by Helen Chapman Handmade Crafts

Onto the card front I stamped the ‘You Are My True North’ sentiment multiple times – using first, second and third generation stamping – in Coastal Cabana ink. In the gaps between the sentiments I stamped the birds image and the compass image, also in Coastal Cabana ink.

I used the coordinating Smooth Sailing dies to cut out the ships wheel from Coastal Cabana cardstock. This was adhered to the card front using Multipurpose Liquid Glue. Into the centre I placed one of the Playing With Patterns Resin Dots to provided the finishing touch.

What do you think to my Coastal Cabana Monochrome Card?

I hope you like my Coastal Cabana Monochrome Card! I think this is probably the simplest card I have created using the Sailing Home Stamp Set and Smooth Sailing Dies! My original idea was more complex but I stopped at this stage because I really liked the simplicity of it.
