Let’s Make It… Watercolour Autumn Leaves Card

Start with a (standard A6) card base created from Basic Black cardstock. Follow this with a layer of Basic Black cardstock measuring 10 x 14.4 cm and embossed using the Brick & Mortar 3D Embossing Folder.

To create the wreath of leaves, use the two largest circles from the Stitched Shapes Die Set to create a ‘ring’ of Basic Black cardstock. Next, watercolour onto a piece of Fluid 100 using Cherry Cobbler, Cajun Craze, Pumpkin Pie, Crushed Curry and Old Olive ink and Water Painters. Cut out the leaves using the Autumn Punch Pack. Adhere the leaves to the ring using Multipurpose Liquid Glue. I aimed for a fairly random pattern, mixing between colours and the two different leaf shapes. Adhere the wreath to the card front.

Stamp the sentiment onto a scrap of Pumpkin Pie cardstock and trim to 1 x 10 cm. Use Paper Snips to trim the ends diagonally. Adhere the sentiment piece over the wreath using Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals. As a finishing touch, use the Take Your Pick Tool to apply a few Pearl Basic Jewels around the card.

What do you think to my watercolour Autumn leaves Card?

I hope you enjoyed finding out how to make this watercolour Autumn leaves card. I think watercolouring is a great way to get the variation in colour across the leaves and because you just need to create a basic wash, blending from one colour to the next, it is really simple to do!

How to Step It Up with Beautiful Autumn

SIU With Beautiful Autumn

Hello and welcome to the latest in my Step It Up (SIU) Series! This follows on from my Stampin’ Basics Series which looked at everything you need to start your stamping and some hints and tips on how to get better results from your stamping. Now we are moving on to the ways in which you can take your projects to the next level! This week we’ll SIU with Beautiful Autumn!

In each episode we will look at a simple stamping project (just stamps, ink and cardstock needed) and explore different techniques and products that can be used to ‘Step It Up’.

Today I’m using the Stampin’ Up! Beautiful Autumn Stamp Set and some of the other products from the Gilded Autumn Suite, and this is my ‘simple stamping’ project…

Let’s Make It…

Start with a (standard A6) card base created from Cinnamon Cider cardstock. Follow this with a layer of Very Vanilla cardstock measuring 9.5 x 13.9 cm. Onto this layer, stamp the acorn outline in Soft Suede ink and colour in using the in-fill stamps – the acorn cup is stamped in Soft Suede ink and the acorn is stamped in Cinnamon Cider ink. Adhere the card front to the card base using Multipurpose Liquid Glue.

Stamp the sentiment in Soft Suede ink onto a strip of Very Vanilla cardstock measuring 10 x 2 cm. Adhere the sentiment piece to the card front using Multipurpose Liquid Glue.

Step It Up… Version 1

As in the simple version, the card base is created from Cinnamon Cider Cardstock. Again the acorn outline is stamped repeatedly across the Very Vanilla card front in Soft Suede ink. Before adhering the card front to the base, wrap a length of Cinnamon Cider Ribbon around it and adhere at the back using Tear & Tape.

Stamp the sentiment in Soft Suede ink onto Very Vanilla Cardstock and cut out using the Stitched Rectangle Dies. Use a larger die to cut out a piece of Cinnamon Cider cardstock. Stamp the acorn outline onto a piece of Very Vanilla cardstock. In-fill as before and cut out using the coordinating punch. Layer these elements together and adhere to the card front using Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Step It Up… Version 2

Create a (standard A6) card base from Very Vanilla Thick cardstock. Adhere a layer of Cinnamon Cider cardstock measuring 10 x 14.4 cm to the card base. Cut a piece of Very Vanilla cardstock to 9.5 x 13.9 cm. Emboss this piece using the Pinewood Planks Embossing Folder.

Stamp the sentiment in Soft Suede ink onto Very Vanilla cardstock and cut out using the Stitched Rectangle Dies. Use larger dies to cut out a piece of Brushed Metallic Cardstock (Copper) and a piece of Very Vanilla cardstock. Layer these pieces together using Multipurpose Liquid Glue.

Cut out three acorns and two oak leaves from Brushed Metallic Cardstock using the punches and adhere to the back of the sentiment piece. Wrap a length of Metallic Ribbon around the sentiment piece and tie on one of the acorn trinkets. Adhere the sentiment piece to the card front using Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Let’s make it…

The (standards A6) card base is created from Crumb Cake cardstock. Then use the three largest Rectangle Stitched Dies as follows: cut out a piece of Early Espresso cardstock using the largest die; cut an aperture in this to create a frame using the third smallest dies; cut out a piece of the Gilded Autumn DSP using the second largest die. This will allow you to adhere the DSP to the frame. Adhere the whole piece to the card front.
