SU Rooted In Nature Card

Hello and welcome! I am delighted to say that I recently won an AAA Cards Challenge! If you would like to look back at the winning card, you can find it here. Having won the challenge, I was invited to be a Guest Designer for the latest challenge. Of course, I said yes!

The challenge rules are shown in the graphic below. You can visit the AAA Cards website to find out more about these challenges, view the entries or take part yourself.

I decided to use the Stampin’ Up! Rooted In Nature Stamp Set and to include the optional twist in my design. I hope you like it…

Let’s make it…

The (standard A6 size) card base is created from Soft Sea Foam cardstock and this is followed by a layer of Whisper White cardstock measuring 10 x 14.4 cm.

Onto this Whisper White card front I stamped the sentiment in Memento Tuxedo Black ink in the bottom left hand corner.

I stamped the small leaf image three times, in Soft Sea Foam, Blushing Bride and Balmy Blue ink. I used a simple mask to ensure that the images didn’t pass the one third point.

I think this is such a clean and fresh colour combination, even if a little unexpected for leaves!

What do you think?

Absolutely Fabulous!

Hello and welcome! Today I’d like to share with you a card I created for the latest AAA Cards Challenge. Click the link to find out more about these challenges, see the other entries or join in. The guidelines for the challenge are shown below…

You may have guessed which TV show inspired my card from the title of my post! Here is another ‘clue’…

Source: Wikipedia

Here is my card…

Let’s make it…

The (standard A6) card base is created from Mango Melody cardstock and that is followed by a 13.9 x 10 cm layer of Whisper White cardstock.

The sentiment is from the Stampin’ Up! Stitched All Around Stamp Set and is stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black ink.

Although only a single image was allowed I wanted to get more colour onto the card so I decided to ink up the stamp using Sponge Daubers to get a multi-colour effect. The image is from the Stampin’ Up! Birthday Backgrounds Stamp Set. I tried to match the colours from the TV show’s title image and used: Mango Melody, Melon Mambo and Pineapple Punch.

SU Honey Bee Card

Hello and welcome! Today I’d like to share with you a card I created for a AAA Cards challenge. You can find out more about these challenges, view the other entries or take part by clicking on the link provided. The challenge was a sketch with an optional twist, as shown below…

If you would prefer to watch me create the card simply scroll to the end of this blog post where you can watch my video tutorial.

I decided to take on the optional twist and used the Stampin’ Up! Honey Bee Stamp Set…

Let’s make it…

The card base is created from Basic Black cardstock and this is followed by a layer of Whisper White cardstock.

I have used a Sponge Brayer to add Daffodil Delight ink to the bottom of the Whisper White layer.

The large bee image and the sentiment are stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black ink with the positions dictated by the sketch.

I love these Clean & Simple card challenges as they force me to think about every element on the card and follow the ‘less is more’ principle which I often struggle with!

SU Happy Tails Card

Hello and welcome! Today I would like to share with you a card I created for the AAA Cards CAS Challenge #161. If you would like to find out more about these challenges, see the other entries or join in visit their website here. These challenges are all about Clean And Simple (CAS) and the requirements for Game #161 are ‘Along the edge’ with an optional twist of Cats & Dogs (well, I wasn’t going to miss out on that!)…

If you would prefer to watch me make the card, you can scroll to the end of this blog post and watch my video tutorial.

As you would expect I included the optional twist! Here is my entry…

Let’s make it…

Well, this isn’t going to take long is it?!

The card base is created from Whisper White Thick cardstock and the card front is a slightly smaller layer of Whisper White cardstock. I have stamped the paw image from the Stampin’ Up! Happy Tails Stamp Set repeatedly along the bottom of the card front in Early Espresso ink.

The dog image (or at least a bit of it!) is also stamped in Early Espresso ink and I have coloured it in using Crumb Cake Stampin’ Blends.

The sentiment is from the Stampin’ Up! Itty Bitty Greetings Stamp Set. It is stamped in Early Espresso ink onto Whisper White cardstock and cut out with the small label from the Stampin’ Up! Stitched Labels Dies. This is adhered to the card front using Multipurpose Liquid Glue.

With these ‘Clean and Simple’ challenges the key is knowing when to stop!
