Stamping for Beginners – Embossing
Hello and welcome to Lesson 7 of the HCHC Stampin’ Basics Series. The series is the perfect introduction to stamping for beginners or a refresher for those with some experience.
In this Series you will learn how to stamp and how to get great results from your stamping – whether you are interested in making cards, scrapbooking or any other paper craft. Once we’ve covered the absolute basics we’ll step it up and discover some great techniques that will take your projects to the next level. But, don’t worry, we’ll make sure you have all the ground-work in place first!
In lesson 6 of my ‘stamping for beginners’ course we looked at the Stampin’ Up! Stamparatus – an ingenious stamping platform for advanced techniques or for those who struggle to get perfect images first time… Lesson 6 blog post – a link to the video can be found in the blog post.
This week… Stamping for Beginners – Embossing
Firstly, apologies for the fact that the Stamping for Beginners – Embossing Lesson is in a number of parts, and some of them are delayed. I have spent four days trying to get the whole video to upload and failed! The only way I could get it to upload was in sections. Because of this it is not being released as a Premiere but please feel free to contact me if you have any questions.
If you missed it, you can find the playlist here (the playlist should show you all four parts in the correct order).
This week’s lesson features a group of techniques known as embossing.
Embossing just means to make something raised so the term is used for a number of different crafting techniques. The main ones, which are covered in the video, are:
- embossing with folders (also known as ‘dry’ embossing)
- heat embossing
- embossing with paste
Within each of these sections I give you a few hints and tips on how to achieve great results and ideas for how to use these techniques in less common ways – such as inking folders, heat embossing in any colour and colouring your embossing paste.
I hope I have inspired you to try some new techniques! If you wish to view the Stampin’ Up! products related to embossing, you can browse here:
I hope you are enjoying the course so far. If you have any questions or comments about the content in Lessons 1-7, please leave them below or email me at firstname.lastname@example.org
In Lesson 8 of my ‘stamping for beginners’ course, you will learn all about the different types of colouring tools available from Stampin’ Up! and how you can use them to take your projects to the next level!
