Balmy Blue Colour Challenge – part 1

Tuesdays are Colour Challenge days here at HCHC HQ. This month, my randomly selected colour is Balmy Blue. For the first week of the month, the selected colour can only be paired with Basic Black, Whisper White or Very Vanilla. The next three weeks follow the Stampin’ Up! Colour Coach.

Father’s Day

Since Father’s Day is just around the corner, I decided to pair Balmy Blue with Basic Black and create a masculine card, although change the sentiments and the card would be suitable for any car lover, mechanic, engineer etc.

I used a Basic Black card base and cut a layer of Balmy Blue cardstock to be just a little smaller all round. I stamped a number of images from the Geared Up Garage stamp set in Memento Tuxedo Black and adhered a Basic Black cardstock die cut of the gears from the coordinating Garage Gears die set into the centre of the card front. This was then embossed using the Subtle 3D Embossing Folder (a technique called Inlaid Embossing). More images and sentiments from the stamp set were stamped in Memento onto Balmy Blue cardstock and cut out using the dies. These were adhered using dimensionals and a piece of Basic Black Baker’s twine produced the finishing touch under the ‘Happy Father’s Day’ sentiment.

Note…

The Basic Black Baker’s Twine will probably have retired by the time you read this (!) but you could colour some Whisper White Baker’s Twine using the Basic Black Blends.

Why not try a colour challenge?

I really enjoy my Colour Challenges as it makes me use combinations that I wouldn’t select myself and choose stamp sets based on what will work with that combination. Have you tried a Colour Challenge? Why not select three colours at random from your collection and see what you come up with?!
