How to make a fabulous foliage ‘Hello’ card

Hello and welcome to my October Colour Challenge! I’m a little behind schedule but I think this is worth the wait! My randomly selected colour this month is Pretty Peacock and, as always, the first project is monochrome. Let me show you how to make a fabulous foliage ‘Hello’ card…

I decided to use the Stampin’ Up! Quite Curvy bundle. This is an early release product from the January – June 2021 Mini Catalogue and will be available to customers from 3rd November 2020. The order number for the bundle is 156228 so make a note of that ready to shop when the time comes! If you can’t wait until then, join my team and get hold of it straight away! For more details on that, click here.

Let’s make it… Quite Curvy Foliage Card

Start with a (standard A6) Whisper White Thick card base. Follow this with a layer of Pretty Peacock cardstock measuring 10 x 14.4 cm. Next, cut a piece of Whisper White cardstock to 9.5 x 13.9 cm to form the main card front.

Onto the card front, stamp the foliage image around the edges using Pretty Peacock ink. Colour in the leaves using the Pretty Peacock Stampin’ Blends Combo. Top tip: use the dark pen to create shadows where leaves overlap one another to help the images stand out and look more realistic!

Cut out a foliage element from Pretty Peacock cardstock using the Curvy Dies and adhere to the card front.

Stamp the sentiment (I have used ‘Hello’ from the Quite Curvy stamp set) in Pretty Peacock ink onto Whisper White cardstock. Cut out the sentiment using the relevant circle from the Stitched Shapes Die Set. Adhere this over the foliage element using Stampin’ Dimensionals.

What a gorgeous card to let someone know that you are thinking of them. ‘Just because’ cards are my favourite!

What do you think to my Quite Curvy Foliage Card?

I hope you enjoyed finding out how to make this Quite Curvy Foliage card. Are you a fan of Pretty Peacock? If so, check back next week for the next Pretty Peacock Colour Challenge which will feature it combined with Night of Navy and Granny Apple Green – wow!

How to make a masculine birthday card using ink blending

Hello and welcome to week 4 of my Stampin’ Up! Misty Moonlight Colour Challenge. This week we are combining it with Crumb Cake and Mossy Meadow. These are really natural tones so I was torn between Rooted in Nature and Sailing Home. In the end I decided on this Sailing Home masculine card using ink blending – I hope you like it!

Let’s Make It… Sailing Home Masculine Card

Start with a (standard A6) card base created from Misty Moonlight cardstock. This is followed by a layer of Whisper White cardstock measuring 10 x 14.4 cm. Emboss the Whisper White layer using the Old World Paper 3D Embossing Folder. I have further distressed the edges using a distressing tool. If you don’t have a distressing tool, you can achieve a similar effect using the blade of a paper of scissors (please be careful if using this method). Add extra interest to the Whisper White layer by splattering ink onto it using the Misty Moonlight, Crumb Cake and Mossy Meadow Stampin’ Write Markers. To do this, remove the cap from the brush tip end, place the brush tip just inside the cap and flick against the inside edge of the cap.

Trim a piece of Shimmery White cardstock to 6.4 x 9.8 cm. Use a Sponge Brayer to blend from Misty Moonlight to Crumb Cake to Mossy Meadow. Spritz water onto the surface using a Stampin’ Spritzer and dab with a piece of tissue to lift some of the ink. Cut a length of Misty Moonlight ribbon and adhere to the back of this Shimmery White layer using Tear & Tape. Stamp the sentiment (I used ‘Happy Birthday’ from the Framed For You Stamp Set) in Misty Moonlight ink onto Whisper White cardstock. Cut out using the Tasteful Labels Dies and adhere to the back of the Shimmery White layer.

Stamp the lighthouse in Misty Moonlight ink, the compass in Crumb Cake ink and the anchor in Mossy Meadow ink and cut out using the coordinating Smooth Sailing Dies (the compass requires a circle punch or die – I used the Stitched Shapes Dies). Adhere these elements as shown.

What do you think to my Sailing Home masculine card?

I hope you enjoyed finding out how to make this Sailing Home masculine card. This is a great colour combination for nature-type images and scenes. I’m definitely going to make a version of this card using the Rooted in Nature Stamp Set too!
